Embarrassed  That's what I said, over 20 years old.   lol   Never been a Rangie person so I thought it would have been younger than that.  Still a bloody shame though.  If only Kleeancrap had been around then. Roll Eyes

On a 4x4 is born he used outriggers off a 90, he then stated on all coilers the gearbox crossmember is in the same place on all chassis's 90, 110 classic Rangerover..so he used the top front mounting bolt as a reference..the outrigger is positioned 25mm further forward from the center of the bolt...

i haven't been able to do much over the last few days due to the weather and other commitments

i've cleaned the chassis down and it doesn't look too great, there is large chunks of flaking rust all over it  motz

so hopefully Mark90 will save the day with his Rangy chassis which is in a lot better condition than mine

 mi5 mi5 mi5 mi5 Mark

i've managed to strip all the rear axle and gubins off and started to clean and paint them, but i've run out of paint now  motz

i've modified the rear axle with brake pipe protection bars and notched the radius arm mounts the same as Mark Evans did  laugh

David,

I have a sneaky feeling you're going to 7 Sisters at the weekend?

If you are I'll tell you everything I know about the SVA etc but I tried to get some "definitive" answers out of VOSA/DVLA a while back for the tech section on several hypothetical hybrid builds and neither were prepared to give answers unless directly related to ongoing projects (to be honest I thing the legislation changes have stirred up a shedload of work and a bit of a hornet's nest for them).

From what the DVLA chap at Exeter I dealt with was telling me each case is being dealt with "on merit" until some vastly expensive private consultancy has been undertaken and the liability for getting it wrong can be placed at the door of someone apart from a government department.

As for whether mine is a hybrid or not - I don't care, it's mine and I done it, every nut and bolt neener

All the axles and trailing arms have two coats of black on them now and look very nice

all assembled ready for the new chassis which will hopefully be arriving soon (Thanks Mark  mi8)

it's going to be a tight squeeze building it in the garage (there is about 1 -  2" each side  als5) but if the Welsh summer continues to be a wash out, it'll have to be built inside  motz motz

there was large areas of thick surface rust (upto 4 mm thick in places) all over the rear half of the chassis and underneath and as i would like to get the chassis galved i would like it as near to perfect as possible  neener

You can never tell whats going to happen in the middle of the Welsh summer, we've already had a heat wave and quite a bit of heavy rain  motz motz

I thought it would have just been rusty around the usual spot of the rear crossmember, and as this is to be lost anyhow....
If its rusty all over, than its probly best to start afresh...
