Thought I'd start a new thread in here to show the modification / development of my Land Rover over the coming months / years It's currently a standard 100" TDI Defender hardtop Looks like this in case you didn't know   |

Standard as in no fancy toys, basic spec, with plenty of room for development of ideas and modifications It's going to be a test bed for a few ideas I've got swirling around in the old grey matter upstairs  |

Oh yeah, it's running on $crap iron +1 inch springs and shocks, they will be getting replaced in the near future as part of the suspension upgrade not sure on final ideas yet, but i've bought some 14" travel shocks for the rear  Possibly going to make some rose jointed trailing arms  |

Instead of the tradition bushed joint, which has limited movement, it's a metal coupling which should give more than enough movement to allow the damper to fully extend.

Something like this probably  Nothing is for certain yet, looking into a number of possibilities, just limited by budget at the mo, so the suspension will be an ongoing development on the next year or so. |

The mounts are all ready on the chassis, so it's definitely on the cards for a future mod.

I had rose jointed bottom arms on the Mini....very good but when i bust a rose joint it was nearly cheaper to buy new arms than a fucking joint....  |

Grey primer workewd well on my lightweight for a year or two. Its been yellow high build primer for a while now.

Thats the sort of articulation I'm aiming for, but all home made stuff to keep the cost to a minimum,
The rear is reasonably easy to do, but the front is going to need some thought
Plans so far for the rear are
+6" shocks (already got)
Raised top shock mounts (probably take a little while to fab)
Relocation cones on the axle (easy enough to fab up)
Either cranked arms or rose jointed
The rest is allright as it is, I'll see how the prop takes it before upgrading

ermm, do what ever you feel necesary at the time easy enough to suggest stuff that is mega expensive seeing as your picking up the tab but i really like seeing stuff on trucks that people have made themselves and actually work aswell or better than stuff you would pay good money for. not only that makes you feel all good inside when people comment on stuff youve made yourself. |

If i did four link it would be totally my own work. Or my own design anyway. Might even look at how to make bolt/weld on adaptors for everything so that i can sell it as a kit and compete with the likes of Gon2Far.
